Welcome to Cambodia's rumour mill. Such scuttlebutt, oft
repeated, becomes accepted wisdom. If lots of people believe it to be true, it
must be true, right? Why waste time with facts, evidence, legal procedures and
a trial when one photo, one rumour is enough to label a man guilty.
My sole reason for setting up this blog, a year ago, was to
assist Mr Fletcher in his quest for a fair trial. Nothing more. I anticipated
that it would be short-lived. Once I had secured Mr Fletvher’s right to a fair
trial I would close down the blog and move on. Talk about naïve!
I had not anticipated, and certainly didn't plan, for this blog
to develop into a critique of Scott Neeson and CCF. My only interest in Scott
was whether or not he was in possession of evidence that neither I nor the
Phnom Penh Municipal Court was that implicated Mr Fletcher in the grooming of
young girls. If he was in possession of such evidence (indeed if anyone was,
and presented it to me), this would have undoubtedly coloured my attitude
towards Mr Fletchers insistence that he had not raped Yang Dany. (This was
before I had documentary evidence that no rape had taken place).
Scott Neeson has not produced evidence of his defamatory comment. I have asked him several times to do so. I think it fair to presume that he does not have it; that it doesn’t exist; that this was just his way of getting rid of a ‘competitor’ in the dump.
More by accident that buy design I stumbled upon (or was
directed by readers of this blog to) evidence of multiple scams engaged in by
the Cambodian Children’s Fund and inevitably the asking of questions about
these scams tended to push Mr Fletcher into the background. Now, however, Mr
Fletcher’s case is in the foreground. There will be a hearing in the Appeal
Court next Monday, 14th Sept. it will be interesting to see if the
media takes any interest at all!?
One thing is certain – the British Embassy in Cambodia will send
no representative to the court to observe. The Foreign & Commonwealth
Office definitely does not want to see Mr Fletcher out of jail and in a
position to sue it for the willful destruction of evidence pertinent to his
case – names his passport.
Regardless of the outcome of Mr Fletcher’s hearing on 14th
Sept, rest assure that there are plenty more revelations coming about CCF. My
blog only contains some of what I know and I tend not to ask questions unless I
already know the answers. The sheer bulk of unanswered questions will prove
very embarrassing eventually to Neeson, the CCF Board, the World Housing board,
LICADHO and the Cambodian media – all of whom (or which) refuse to either ask
or answer questions.
Team Neeson's 'trial by photograph' is a farce. A photo of Fletcher with girls is clear evidence that he is a pedophile. Similar photos of Neeson with kids is evidence that he is a good guy dedicated to helping kids. Photos tell us nothing of any value.Stop making judgements based one them.
ReplyDeleteAnother fucking dreamt up conspiracy. Im not team Neeson for a start - but who has ever said that the Fletcher is guilty because of one picture? The guy is a predator and the fact that he was convicted for having sex with a young girl, consensual or not, shows that he has a predatory nature. If you are going to fight the fight for Fletcher at least stop making up sensationalised bullshit!

Yes, Mr Fletcher had sex with a 15 year old girl in 1998. Does this mean that he is guilty of the rape of a young woman (17, one month short of 18) who denies that any rape took place?
And what of James Mc Cabe? If it is true that he commenced his relationship with his wife-to-be when she was 15 or 16, does this make him a sexual predator also? If so, should he be running a Child Protection Unit?
Yang Dany insists that she did not have sex with Mr Fletcher. She insists that he did not rape her. The medical report says that he did not rape her. But let's presume, for argument's sake, that the medical report is wrong; that somehow or other this young woman's hymen remained intact. And lets presume, for a moment, that she has been induced to change her mind about the 'rape'. What then do you make of her describing him as a 'good man', her 'future husband' and 'fiance' just a couple of weeks before Mr Fletcher's arrest?
Hopefully Mr Fletcher will have his day in court and the judges can decide on the basis of evidence and not on the basis of the kinds of judgements you make. If Fletcher deserves 5 years in jail without a trial for having sex with a 15 year old, why does James Mc Cabe not deserve the same fate?

James - you say that Yang Dany says Fletcher didn't rape or sexually assault her. But this statement is based upon her comments to you when you forced your way into her house and under some heavy duress got her to make the statements on your video interview. I have watched your video and its quite remarkable that you think that the way you handled yourself is acceptable. I think it is disgusting. How is it that her first statement to Police and the court prosecutor is that Fletcher locked her in a room, rapes and/pr tried to sexually abuse her - but you think that statement has been made under duress and yet the statement to you is not made under duress. Your double standards are extraordinary!

From that position he spreads his HATE and wishes people like David Fletcher to "rot in jail". Someone so determined to wish to prevent even a fair trial for a person he doesn't even know personally must have serious reasons to prevent the truth ever to surface.

ReplyDeleteI know that facts are of little importance to you but if you look carefully you will see, in the video, that tha could not possibly be Yang Dany's house. In fact it was the top floor of the hotel I was staying in at the time. Yang Dany and her mother came if their own accord. Yang Dany, in particular, felt badly about what had happened to Mr Fletcher and both she and her mother wanted to tell the truth but we're fearful that they could wind up in jail themselves if they did so. At this point it seemed as though there was to be a trial. Yang Dany was told not to testify and, to make sure that she did not, was sent to China. Given the haste with which she left I suspect, but cannot be sure, that she had no passport when she left Cambodia. How she found her way into China without a passport we can only conjecture.
